Find answers to some of the most common questions about Sydney Doors, our custom-made doors and panels, measuring, ordering, finishes, production and installation.
If you still have a question after reading through the FAQs below, please contact our team and we’ll be happy to help.
Sydney Doors manufactures custom-made kitchen doors, wardrobe doors, drawer fronts, panels and related cabinetry products. We supply both industry professionals and the general public, with products made to your required sizes, designs, materials and finishes.
We manufacture and supply the products, but we do not provide an on-site measuring or installation service.
Yes. The total cost will depend on the number and size of your doors and panels, the material, selected design, finish and any additional options.
The easiest way to get an accurate indication of price is to use our online configurator, where you can select your products, enter your sizes and customise the available options.
Replacing only the doors, drawer fronts and panels can often be considerably more economical than replacing an entire kitchen or wardrobe.
You can configure your doors and panels directly through our website.
Select the product you require, choose your material and design, enter your finished sizes and select the relevant options. You can build your project progressively and review the individual items before proceeding with your order.
If your project has unusual requirements or you are unsure which options to select, contact our team before placing the order.
For most projects, you should know the finished height and width of each door, drawer front or panel in millimetres.
For hinged doors you may also need information such as the hinge side, hinge type and hinge-hole positions. You should also consider your preferred material, door design, colour, finish and edge options.
It is always a good idea to make a simple drawing or list of your cabinets and label each individual item before you begin measuring.
Yes. Sydney Doors has minimum-order requirements for manufactured doors and panels.
The applicable minimum or minimum-order adjustment is displayed as part of the ordering process and may depend on the material, finish or colour selected. Delivery and other applicable charges are additional.
No. Sydney Doors is a manufacturer and does not provide an on-site measuring service.
If you are confident measuring your own doors and panels, you can take the measurements yourself and order directly from us.
If you are unsure, we strongly recommend having an experienced cabinet maker, carpenter, handyman or installer measure the project for you before ordering.
No. We manufacture and supply your custom doors and panels but do not provide installation services.
You can install the products yourself if you have the appropriate skills, or engage a professional to complete the installation for you.
Sydney Doors can provide details of installers who are familiar with this type of work.
Because measuring and installation are performed by independent tradespeople rather than Sydney Doors, we cannot provide a fixed price for these services.
The cost will depend on the size and complexity of the project and the amount of work required. The installer should provide their own pricing directly to you.
Measure the finished height first and then the finished width, in millimetres.
When replacing existing doors, measuring across the back of the door can often make it easier to obtain an accurate measurement because the back edges are generally easier to reference than profiled or rounded front edges.
Always check each individual door and panel rather than assuming that similar-looking doors are exactly the same size.
Yes. If your existing cabinets and carcasses are still in good condition, replacing the doors, drawer fronts and visible panels is an effective way to update the appearance of your kitchen, wardrobe or cabinetry without replacing the complete cabinet system.
Your new products can be custom-made to suit the dimensions of the existing cabinetry.
Yes. Custom sizing is one of the main benefits of ordering directly from Sydney Doors.
Doors, drawer fronts and panels can be manufactured to your required finished dimensions, subject to the manufacturing limits of the selected material, design and product type.
The online configurator will advise you when a particular combination falls outside the available manufacturing range.
We manufacture a wide range of standard Sydney Doors profiles and designs.
If you are trying to match an existing or discontinued design, contact us with the manufacturer’s design name or product code where possible. We can advise whether we already manufacture an equivalent or whether another option is available.
We cannot guarantee that an unidentified door supplied only as a physical sample can be reproduced exactly.
Yes. Sydney Doors manufactures replacement and custom doors for several IKEA cabinet systems, including METOD, FAKTUM and PAX applications.
Our configurator includes manufacturer presets for supported systems and sizes to help simplify product and hinge configuration.
If you are replacing existing IKEA doors, it is still important to confirm your cabinet system and dimensions before ordering.
Painted Sydney Doors products can be ordered in a wide selection of colours from major Australian paint brands.
When ordering a custom colour, provide the paint brand together with the colour name or colour code so the correct colour can be identified.
Because colours can appear different on screens, we recommend selecting or confirming your colour using a physical paint sample where colour accuracy is important.
Our painted doors are professionally spray finished in polyurethane, providing a smooth, durable surface suitable for kitchens, wardrobes and other cabinetry applications.
Depending on the selected product, finishes including Matt, Satin, Semi Gloss and High Gloss may be available.
Satin is a popular option because it provides a smooth appearance while generally showing fewer fingerprints and reflections than higher-gloss finishes.
Yes. In addition to polyurethane painted products, Sydney Doors offers selected doors and panels using Laminated / Polytec finishes.
Available colours, textures, thicknesses, edge options and manufacturing limitations differ from painted products, so the relevant options will be displayed when Laminated / Polytec is selected in the configurator.
Yes. Hinge drilling is available for supported door products.
Depending on the cabinet system and product, you can select standard hinge placement, supported manufacturer presets or provide custom hinge positions.
Take particular care when entering custom hinge measurements, as the doors will be manufactured according to the information provided in your order.
In many cases, yes.
If your existing hinges and mounting plates remain suitable for your cabinet, you can choose to use your own hinges and have the doors drilled to suit the required hinge configuration where available.
Always confirm the hinge type and drilling pattern before ordering.
Yes. Selected Blum standard and soft-closing hinge options are available for compatible products.
The number of hinges required can vary according to the height and configuration of the door.
Production time depends on the material and finish selected.
As a general guide, painted products require approximately 25 working days and Laminated / Polytec products approximately 15 working days.
These are estimated production timeframes rather than guaranteed completion dates and may change during particularly busy periods or because of circumstances outside our control.
Yes. Completed orders can be collected from Sydney Doors in Wetherill Park.
Make sure the vehicle you bring is suitable for the size and weight of your products and that the doors and panels can be transported securely without damage.
Large doors and panels may require additional people to safely load, unload and handle them.

Large or oversized products may have additional delivery requirements.
