Painted

Painted products are manufactured from MR MDF and finished in your selected paint colour and sheen. Available paint options may vary depending on the selected product, profile and board thickness.

Minimum Order: A minimum order of $1,000 (inc. GST) applies per paint colour. If the value of items in the same paint-colour group is below the minimum, the difference may be added as a minimum-order fee.

Estimated Turnaround (ETA): 25 working days (approximately 5 weeks) from the date of order.

Laminated (Polytec)

Laminated products use selected Polytec finishes and colours. Choose either 16mm Decorative or 18mm Decorative in the Material section, then select from the finishes and colours available for that thickness in Finish/Colours.

For wide or landscape items, the configurator may automatically rotate the pricing and visual orientation to suit the available board and pricing format. Always enter the actual finished Height × Width required.

Minimum Order: A $60.50 service fee (inc. GST) applies to orders below $1,000 (inc. GST) for the applicable Polytec colour group.

Painted Back

Painted Back is mainly required for a stand-alone static panel when the back face will remain exposed and visible. In that situation, select the appropriate Backside Paint option to suit the installation.

If a panel is covering another cabinet, panel or other concealed surface, the back face is normally hidden and does not need to be painted.

Examples of static panels include filler panels, kickboards, cover panels, end panels and similar non-moving components.

Painted Back & Edge Selection

Backside paint and edge treatment work together, but they are separate choices. Double Front applies the selected soft/front edge treatment to both the front and back arrises of an exposed panel edge. Softening both sides helps reduce the risk of the painted surface chipping from knocks and impacts.

Double Front is mainly useful on exposed edges of stand-alone painted panels where both faces of the edge can be contacted. If the back is concealed, a Double Front edge is normally not required. Use the normal selected front-facing edge on exposed visible sides. Concealed sides on eligible static panels may use No Edge; see the Edge Options Section Guide for details.

Choosing a Finish

Finish availability and the colours offered under each finish depend on whether 16mm Decorative or 18mm Decorative is selected. Choose the material thickness first, then select the finish and colour that best suit the required appearance, texture and application.

Standard Sizes

Enter the dimensions exactly as the item will be manufactured: Height is top to bottom and Width is left to right.

The configurator automatically checks the selected material, product type and design against the available manufacturing and pricing limits.

Wide / Landscape Items

Wide items such as kickboards, long panels and other landscape-oriented pieces can also be configured.

If the Width is greater than the standard width range, select Custom Pattern under Design Options. This applies to both Painted and Laminated (Polytec).

Custom Pattern allows the configurator to correctly interpret the item as a landscape panel while keeping the dimensions entered as the actual finished Height × Width.

For example, 100H × 2400W remains a finished size of 100 mm high × 2400 mm wide. The configurator may internally rotate the pricing or design orientation to match the applicable manufacturing and pricing table. This does not change the finished dimensions.

Pattern Direction

For Custom Pattern items, pattern direction can be selected independently from the physical Height and Width. A wide landscape panel can still use a Vertical pattern, or a tall panel can use a Horizontal pattern where required.

Important

Always enter the dimensions as the item needs to be manufactured. Do not manually swap Height and Width to try to match a pricing table.

If a selected size, material or design is not supported, the configurator will display a validation message explaining what needs to be changed.

Vertical Pattern Direction

For vertical doors and end panels, use Bottom Pattern Height when the lower pattern needs to align with a smaller adjacent door.

Custom vertical layout is calculated from the bottom up. Start at the physical panel bottom, move up by the Kickboard Height, then measure the Bottom Pattern Height from the top of the kickboard.

With Single Mid-Rail, the Bottom Pattern Height datum is where the bottom edge of the top pattern sits, with one rail directly below it. With Double Mid-Rail, the Bottom Pattern Height datum stays in the same position and the second rail is added above it, pushing the bottom edge of the top pattern upward by one additional rail width.

Automatic placement: Classic Layout uses a larger upper pattern and a smaller lower pattern; Equal Spacing divides the available design area evenly.

Custom placement: currently supports one or two patterns. With one pattern, Kickboard Height adjusts the space below the pattern and no mid-rail is used.

Horizontal Pattern Direction

Use Horizontal Pattern Direction when you want the pattern to run across the panel. Pattern count, rail options and Kickboard Height apply across the entered panel width.

Kickboard Height is measured after the standard pattern rail. The total distance from the bottom edge is Kickboard Height + Rail Width.

Hinge Type

Soft Closing

Includes a damping action that slows the door during the final part of closing for a softer, quieter close.

Standard

A conventional concealed cabinet hinge without the soft-closing damping function.

Use Own Hinges: Select this when you do not require hinge hardware supplied with the door. Choose the drilling pattern that matches your hinges: Single 35mm, Blum 3-Hole or Hettich 3-Hole. Confirm the drilling pattern against your own hardware before ordering.

Hinge Side

Select Left or Right to choose the side of the door that receives the hinge drilling. Remember that the preview is shown from the front, while the hinge cups are machined into the back of the door.

Advanced Hinge Placement

Auto Assign: The configurator automatically selects the required hinge quantity from the door height and distributes the hinge centres using the Sydney Doors automatic layout.

Custom: Choose the number of hinges and enter the required hinge-centre positions. Hinge position values are measured down from the top edge of the door to the centre of each hinge.

IKEA Preset / Kaboodle Preset: Where supported, the configurator applies the hinge quantity and positions associated with the selected manufacturer size. Preset availability depends on the cabinet system, product and selected dimensions.

Important

The configurator checks hinge drilling against the physical door size and can prevent combinations where the hinge cups or drilling pattern cannot fit safely. Some products, including certain Corner & Bi-fold configurations, may restrict the available hinge types or placement options.

Standard / Front-Facing Edge

X applies the selected normal edge treatment. Use this on exposed visible sides where only the painted front face needs to present a finished edge.

Cabinet doors, drawer fronts and other moving products should use their normal finished edge treatment rather than No Edge.

No Edge

S (No Edge Profile) is only intended for static panel-type products such as filler panels, kickboards, cover panels, end panels and similar non-moving components.

On those static panels, a concealed side may use No Edge when it sits against the floor, ceiling, wall, another cabinet/panel or another hidden surface.

No Edge is not intended for cabinet doors, drawer fronts or other moving/opening components.

Double Front & Painted Back

D (Double Front) means the selected soft/front edge treatment is applied to both the front and back arrises of an exposed panel edge. Softening both sides helps reduce the risk of paint chipping when the edge is knocked or impacted.

It is mainly used on exposed edges of stand-alone painted panels where both faces/arrises are accessible. A visible painted back and Double Front often occur together, but they are separate finishing decisions.

If a panel is covering another cabinet/panel and the back is concealed, Painted Back and Double Front are normally not required. Use the regular selected front-facing edge only on sides that remain visible; concealed sides on eligible static panels may use No Edge.
